Navys share spoils in great battle vs Reds

Match Report:
A bright and early start this morning to play our Solihull rivals the Reds – a well-drilled team who deserved our respect.

Great work from the sharps securing pitch one and getting it set up for the tussle ahead. The new shirts were well received by both teams and there was no doubting the identity of the Navys!!

After a longer than normal warm up the lads were set. Skipper Dunners won the Rock, Paper, scissors, deciding to retain ends.

The Navys took full advantage from the off dominating the first half. Dunners continued his recent form by opening the score with a nice finish high into the net, with Pricey doubling our advantage with a very well taken goal.

The second half was a little different as the Navys struggled to get the ball up the far end to trouble their GK. That meant the game was mostly in our half. Everytime we looked to impose – there was a block from the Reds who ran on in numbers. After a few saves from Poulters and them hitting the Bar, the Reds finally scored after some strong resistance. The game was then very open with both teams incredibly committed.

The big moment of the game was Abdi awarding a free kick to Reds rather than the Navys, who then scored from the subsequent (scrappy) freekick.

It was important for the Navys to respond well and overall the lads managed to see the game out, with Elijah and Max putting some important blocks and George in particular having some great runs and attempts on goal.

Scorers: Dunners and Pricey
MOTM: George
POTW: Poulters
