Solihull Navy’s continued their goal-scoring spree this season in a thrilling encounter against Solihull Moors, ultimately prevailing in a match filled with twists and turns.
The game started with a last-minute reshuffle for Navy’s, as the unlucky George fell ill overnight ( get well soon George). However, Navy’s wasted no time establishing dominance in the Moors’ half. Elijah, dependable as ever, opened the scoring, before later assisting another goal and displaying solid defensive skills as well as attacking flair.
James put in a Man of the Match performance, doubling the lead for Navy’s and would go on to contribute assists as he led the team forward.
Despite Navy’s strong start, the Moors slowly found their rhythm. Poulters made excellent saves to keep them at bay until the Moors fired two quick goals, leveling the score. Max Brooke’s determined defensive tackles and then an assist to James helped Navy’s regain the lead.
Navy’s extended their advantage with a sensational goal, featuring a precise cross from James met by Archie’s impressive volley. The Moors staged a comeback, but Dunners added his name to the scoresheet, leaving the halftime score in favor of Navy’s.
The second half saw Navy’s change their formation, with Archie taking over in goal and Poulters playing in defense. Brookesy, in a more forward position, made numerous lung-busting runs into the opposition’s half, but the Moors managed to level the score. Dunners, who had an excellent morning with two assists, darted forward and finished, putting Navy’s back in the lead.
Archie’s superb positioning and saves maintained Navy’s advantage, and they sealed the game. Poulters initiated and concluded a fantastic Navy’s move, celebrated by players, coaches, and parents alike. James completed his hat-trick with a remarkable strike.
The Moors did manage to pull one back, but it proved to be a mere consolation as Solihull Navy triumphed. This victory sets them up nicely for their upcoming double-header in the cup, continuing their impressive start to the season.
